Everything You Need To Know About Backlinks
What is backlink?
It is a very popular term in S.E.O, backlink is when one website links to another website. It is very important regarding your search engine optimization aka SEO, as it shows relevant content in your niche. It also shows the search engine that others are rating and following your content.
The latest statics show that Google generates around 1.2 trillion searches every year. Now, when you see a number like that it’s easy to assume no matter what the topic is, I can still get a lot of traffic from Google alone. I hate to be the one breaking it to you but with just uploading some content or simply making your website look <air quotes> beautiful </air quotes> you won’t get anywhere.
There are millions of websites out there who are trying their best to be seen and they are using every possible method out there to achieve what they want, whether its Google Ads, Content marketing, or generating traffic from their social media platforms, they are getting the attention and guess what happens to your website views. Exactly!
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not just about traffic. At the end what matters the most is targeting the right audience, and attracting the people who are most likely interested in what you have to offer. It’s all SEO is about, to help you come across people who are interested in what you do.
Therefore, to even begin your competition you need every ammunition you can get.
You need to create fresh and optimized content, follow trends, optimize your website for search engines, etc. and a quite large portion of that optimization is putting backlinks in your website.
Here are some things you need to know about backlinks:
1- Total number of links doesn’t matter, Its all about the quality.
A quality backlink is a link that comes from a high domain authority website that is well-trusted by search engines and searchers. To put it in other words, not only do the robots trust the website, but actual people also trust the website.
2- Creating amazing content should be your number 1 priority and then add the backlinks to drive in the traffic.
First thing is your blog must catch your audience attention, if it doesn’t no matter how hard you’ve worked on the keywords or backlinks, it will all be worthless. 2nd thing is choosing the right keywords. At the end you need traffic to show your audience the amazing blog with fresh content that you made and that’s when backlinks come in to play.
3- There are 2 types of backlinks, the DOfollow and NOfollow link.
The DOfollow links help with your ranking as it tells Google’s crawlers that this website that has great domain authority linked my website so please count the fact that I’m mentioned in it, which will increase your website’s domain authority as a result. On the other hand, the NOfollow links are telling google to not give the link any additional abilities (don’t factor in the domain authority and stuff). The link will still act as a hyper link and if someone clicks on it, they will be transferred to the target website but that’s just it.
4- Backlinks with higher domain and page authority provides better quality backlinks.
We’ve mentioned domain authority a couple of times let’s review it in case you didn’t know what it is. Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank on search engine result pages. A Domain Authority score ranges from 1 to 100. So, in conclusion, the higher the website’s DA, the more quality and worth the backlinks have.
5- The placement of backlinks can also affect the results too, so if you had a say in where your links go, choose them wisely.
Place them somewhere that best matches your website’s content/products/services so it will be relevant. The more relevant=the better the results.
6- Anchor links are more effective for your search engine optimization than hyperlinks.
Quick note: Anchor link = Dofollow link – Hyperlink = Nofollow link. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the Anchor links or Dofollows transfer the credits of the website as well but Hyperlinks or Nofollows are only there to transfer the audience to your website once they’ve clicked on the link.
7- Learn how to collect your backlink data before you begin your link building.
You’ve learned by now that if you want to get the most out of this part of your search engine optimization, you need quality backlinks. So, gather some data like the DA of the website you want to get backlinks from before you begin your link building.

Backlinks represent the relevance and popularity of your website. The more your high-quality backlinks, the greater your chances of achieving a higher rank for your chosen keywords. When a search engine’s crawler goes through your website to determine the overall relevancy of your website, it takes a close look at the quality and the number of your backlinks.
As important as backlinks are, you need to be really careful. Poor backlinks can even divert traffic away from your content and result in a worse rank, so make sure they are relevant, and keep in mind that only trusted sites improve your credibility. Add high-quality backlinks and create fresh content to see your ranking increase dramatically.
